We at
Windsor Dental Practice Leicester pride ourselves on being able to treat all our patients with the up most care and quality whilst also
minimising any pain felt during and after treatment.
A Root canal treatment is used to save a tooth that otherwise would need to be removed. It occurs when the small nerve inside the tooth becomes infected through decay or trauma.
What does the treatment involve?
1) The first appointment will involve making a small opening in the tooth followed by thoroughly cleaning the tooth removing all infected tissue, disinfecting the tooth and then placing a antibacterial dressing in the tooth.
2) The second appointment will involve further disinfection of the tooth, followed by placing a filling (gutta percha) inside of the tooth to seal the root canal, thus preventing further bacterial invasion. A filling will then be placed in the cavity.
It is advisable for the patient to have a crown placed on the tooth following root canal treatment to strengthen the tooth following treatment
Generally
no pain will be felt by the patient during root canal treatment. The patient will be numb throughout the treatment and if any discomfort is felt the dentist will try there best to make the patient more comfortable.
Done competently by someone who cares for the quality of the patient experience, root canal treatment should be a pain-free procedure with just local anaesthetic. Our Dentist in Leicester show will always strive to make your experience a pleasant one. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us via our website.
